VLAIO supports the further development of FieldGenius

A major milestone for the future of intelligent scheduling.

We are proud to announce that VLAIO has approved our development project around FieldGenius.

For us, this means much more than financial support. It is a recognition of the technical challenges we want to solve, the expertise we have built up over the past years, and the potential of intelligent scheduling within field service organisations.

The FieldGenius team discusses the future of smart scheduling.

Why FieldGenius?

Over the past years, at DX-Solutions we have helped dozens of companies with software development, integrations, data solutions, and artificial intelligence.

Despite the differences between sectors and companies, we kept seeing the same challenge return: scheduling.

For companies with technicians, installers, maintenance teams, and field services, scheduling quickly becomes a complex puzzle. Availability, skills, vehicles, materials, locations, travel times, urgencies, and customer preferences must constantly be weighed against each other.

Many organisations still rely on manual processes, Excel files, or scheduling software that does not sufficiently account for the reality of the shop floor.

That is exactly where the idea behind FieldGenius was born.

From customer question to product vision

FieldGenius did not originate from a theoretical idea or a business plan.

It grew from a concrete customer question.

During a first implementation, we noticed how great the impact of intelligent scheduling can be. At the same time, it became clear that the real challenge goes much further than automatically assigning tasks.

How do you combine dozens of operational constraints within one model?

How do you ensure that a schedule is not only mathematically optimal, but also practically executable?

How do you deal with emergency jobs, absences, or changes during the workday?

And how do you ensure that planners have confidence in the proposals generated by an AI system?

These questions form the core of FieldGenius today.

Why this is a development project

A VLAIO development project is not awarded based on a good idea alone.

There must be a clear knowledge challenge, technical uncertainties, economic impact, and a realistic valorisation trajectory.

Within FieldGenius, we will build new knowledge over the next 18 months around:

This is not just about software development. It is about research into how complex operational realities can be translated into intelligent and usable scheduling models.

Collaboration with customers and knowledge partners

The development of FieldGenius does not happen in isolation.

Together with customers, users, and knowledge partners, we will gather, validate, and refine new insights in the coming months.

The combination of practical experience, academic knowledge, and technological expertise must ensure that FieldGenius is not only innovative, but also effectively deployable in the daily reality of field service companies.

What does the future hold?

Today, a first version of FieldGenius is already being used in practice.

With this development project, we are taking the next step: from a specific solution to a generic platform that can be deployed for a broad group of companies with field services.

Our ambition is clear.

We want to help companies plan faster, work more efficiently, make better use of their people and resources, and at the same time gain more control over their operational processes.

This is just the beginning.

Over the next 18 months, we will continue building on what we believe is one of the most underestimated challenges within modern organisations: intelligent scheduling.
